Peace, Love, Camping Bandana

I used to be a Girl Scout.

Not only did I love the camping trips but I loved all the crafts and skill sets that went along with it. One of my favorite crafts was making the annual Camporee bandana. We sewed the fabric square and then designed our embroideries. The embroideries didn’t always match and some were never finished but it was more  the spirit of the adventure that mattered the most, to me anyway.

Well, my Camporee days are long over but I still love a camping bandana.

Here is a list of what you will need to make your own camping bandana:

1 Piece muslin fabric washed & cut to 24 “ square
water – soluble fabric marker
Embroidery floss in the following colors: ( or pick your own color palette)
gold: dmc 729 = peace
Lt. brown: DMC 420 = love
green: dmc 733 = camping
brown: dmc 898 = peacesign
ombre: dmc 94 = stars & blanket stitch edge

and this is how to do it

turn edges of fabric under 1/4”  & press
turn under additional 1/4” press & machine stitch hem
print out your design.
place design in one of the corners & trace with fabric marker.
you can use a light box or tape fabric & design on a sunny window to trace
use an embroidery hoop to keep fabric taut
use blanket stitch around the hem of entire bandana
stitch away
